Bring the Kids, but Not on Saturday

We’ve got a fun weekend coming up with some family and some not-so-family events on the calendar.  On Friday we hit up the Harvest Cafe in Hudson, as we play a mostly acoustic show for the dinner crowd.  On Saturday we travel to the Blind Pig Pub in Athol for an Anne Boleyn Beheading Celebration.  Your guess is as good as ours as to what that’s all about, but we think it will be a blast.  And then on Sunday afternoon we team up with Pumpkin Head Ted for an all-ages, family-friendly concert at Gallery X in New Bedford.  PHT is a fun, eclectic ensemble that we’re really looking forward to sharing the stage with.

We hope you can join us for one of the shows!

EarthFest

Dear friends,

As a rule we try to avoid online contests and asking our fans to vote for us at some annoying website.  We’re making an exception this time around, because we have a chance to open Radio 92.9′s EarthFest in a couple of weeks.  This music festival will feature national acts like Third Eye Blind and the Spin Doctors, and will attract more than 10,000 fans.

We’ve been chosen as one of 10 local acts to compete for the opening slot.  Please take a moment to vote for us here. You’ll have to create an account to log in, but it’s free and only takes a minute.  If we make it into the top 4 based on votes, then we’ll play in a battle of the bands next week, where the winner will be picked.  We’d much rather decide all of this based just on music and performance, but the voting process is the required next step.

Thanks for all of your support!  Please do take a minute to vote for us at: www.myradio929.com/local929/index.aspx

Going North

We’re traveling north this week, with two shows in New Hampshire and one in Gloucester.  We return to the Barley Pub in Dover, NH on Wednesday and the Pub at Cape Ann Brewing on Friday.  Then on Saturday we hit the Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH for the first time.  Come on out and see us if you’re nearby.

Nashua and Quincy

We head up to Nashua, NH tonight (Friday) to play at a new venue for us: Fody’s Tavern.  It looks like a fun place with lots of live music, so we’re excited to check it out.  Saturday we return to Mari’s Place in Quincy, one of our favorite spots.  Come on out and join the fun!

The Fun Begins

We’re excited to be gigging again after a few weeks off.  Starting this weekend, we’ll be playing almost every weekend until September, all around New England, with lots of new venues on the list.  It looks like a great spring and summer, and we hope to see you at some point along the way.  Check out our Shows page for our full schedule.

We return to Metropolis Wine Bar in Brattleboro tomorrow (Friday), a great little spot that we really enjoyed when we played there back in January.  On Saturday we hit the Rockfish, a new venue for us in Newburyport.  It looks like a great restaurant in a beautiful town.  Let the good times roll!

Happy Mardi Gras!

We’re celebrating Fat Tuesday tonight at a new venue for us: The Pour Farm Tavern in New Bedford.  Should be a great night so we hope you can join us for some Louisiana sounds and celebration!

Salem, Cambridge, Damariscotta

Mardi Gras season kicks off for us this week with three great shows.  We’re in Salem tonight (Thursday) at a new venue for us, The Howling Wolf.  Friday night we’re back to one of our favorite spots, The Plough and Stars in Cambridge.  And then Saturday we head to Maine and The Damariscotta River Grill.  We had a great Mardi Gras show there last year and we’re looking forward to doing it again.  Hope you can join us!

Traveling Weekend

We’re off to two new venues in two new cities for us this weekend.  Metropolis Wine Bar in Brattleboro, VT tonight (Friday), and then Nick’s in Worcester tomorrow (Saturday).  We’re psyched to be on the road again bringing our sounds to the people.  Please join us if you’re in the area!

Gardner on Friday

We’re excited to play a new venue for us this Friday–the Gardner Ale House.  They’ve got great food, beer, and music, and we’re happy to be a part of it.  Please join us if you’re in the area!

Last Public Show of 2011

Happy holidays, everyone!  Our last public show of the year is coming up this Wednesday at a new venue for us: The Barley Pub in Dover, NH.  Please come out and help us celebrate the end of one great year and the start of another!

Lowell on Thursday

We’re back this  Thursday at Ole Tapas Restaurant in Lowell.  Great food, sangria, and music–what could be better on a cold mid-December night?  Hope you can join us.

Double Header Weekend

We’re in  Somerville and Quincy this weekend at two great venues for live music: Sally O’Brien’s and Mari’s Place.  They should be fun nights with lots of new tunes to share.  Hope you can come out.

Portland Post-Thanksgiving

We’re heading up north this Friday to one of Portland’s best live music venues: Empire Dine and Dance.  We’ve heard great things about this spot and we can’t wait to check it out.  It’s the perfect way to break out of your turkey coma.  Come join us for drinks, dancing, and holiday craziness.

Cambridge Tomorrow

We’re back at the Plough and Stars in Cambridge this Saturday, one of our favorite all-time spots.  Great food, drinks, and vibe.  We’ll be playing songs from our new album, of course, and also some new cumbias and forro tunes.  Hope you can join us!

Ayer on Saturday

After a couple of weeks off (which were miserable, by the way–we’ve all got the shakes at this point), we are so00 happy to be back at 31 Main in Ayer this Saturday.  It’s a great little restaurant and bar, and one of our oldest venues.  We started playing there almost 3 years ago.  It’s always a good time, and we hope you can join us.

Quincy and Melrose This Weekend

We’re back at 2 of our favorite spots this weekend: Mari’s Place in Quincy tonight (Friday) and Absolutely Fabulous in Melrose on Saturday.  They’re both great venues with friendly staffs and and welcoming vibes.  We love playing there and we hope you can join us.

Lowell and Newport

We’ve got two shows we’re really looking forward to this week.  We’re up in Lowell tonight (Thursday) for our north shore cd release party at Ole Restaurant and Tapas Bar.  Then tomorrow we’re psyched to be opening for Santa Mamba at the Newport Blues Cafe.  Santa Mamba is one of the best Latin bands in the Northeast, so it should be a great night for dancing and celebrating the weekend.  Hope you can join us!

Melrose Tonight

After a summer break, we’re back at one of our favorite spots: Absolutely Fabulous in Melrose.  Great Italian food, full bar, friendly people, hot music–what more could you want for the weekend after Labor Day?

It’s Here!

Our debut album, The Gods We Were Before, is now available!  We put a lot of work into it and we’re really proud of the results.  It’s a great reflection of who we are as a band right now and the music we’re trying to create.

Special thanks to our recording and mixing engineer (and sometime guitarist), Doug Batchelder, for all of his fantastic work.  He has been a huge part of this project.

Thanks also to Jeff Lipton and Maria Rice at Peerless Mastering for their brilliant engineering.

You can find digital copies of the album on sale at the following sites:

We’ll have physical copies available online in the next few days.  But of course, the best way to get your hands on a cd is to come to our release party tonight at the Plough and Stars in Cambridge.  (Or, if you can’t make it tonight, we’ll have cds for sale at our upcoming shows.)

Thanks for all of your support!  On with the journey!

Album Release Party

It’s almost here!  We are releasing our debut album, “The Gods We Were Before,” this Thursday, 9/1/11.  It features 10 original songs and a cover of Luiz Gonzaga’s “O Fole Roncou.”  It’s been a crazy amount of work, but we are extremely proud of it and we can’t wait to share it with you.

To celebrate, we are hosting a release party at the Plough and Stars in Cambridge on Thursday.  We’ll have some special guests joining us and it’s shaping up to be a great night.  Please come out for the festivities!
